30 ROCK: FOCUS ON 7X10 (OR "TINA FEY DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KILL ME?")

Hello!
So as promised (did I promise that? I’m not sure) I’m going to talk about 30 Rock.

SPOILER ALERT!!

As we all know the show is ending in 2 weeks (that’s right folks, the finale is going to be a one hour episode) and the writers are doing their best to wrap up the story.
In this episode (7x10,“Florida”), Jack and Liz go to Colleen’s estate to organize her things after her death.
This leads to a weird discovery for Jack: not only was his mother actually a funny and nice person (“Mrs. Silly”!!), but she was also a lesbian. This makes Jack think about himself and his happiness, which he's not sure he has ever had. *
In New York, Tracy and Jenna are in charge of TGS while Liz and Pete are away, and we all know that from this can come no good (no surprise, right?). However, things seem to go pretty smoothly, until we find out that Hazel has reported her previous employers to have had wrong behaviors towards her; to avoid the scandal, everyone has to sign a document where they deny any of that of ever happening.
Unfortunately, Kenneth can’t lie, so this leads to the saddest ending ever (seriously,I've neved felt so sad at the end of a 30 Rock episode before): Hank Hooper, who doesn’t like scandals, decides to cancel TGS as his final CEO act, and we find out that “next Friday” will be its final show.

NOW LET’S ALL TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT THAT.

TGS has been cancelled.
30 Rock is ending.

I should have figured that out before, after all the show is ending too…but how cruel is that? Moreover, the news arrives right after Liz has found out she is going to adopt two kids (again, where was Chriss?), and her facial expression sums up mine too.

What is going to happen now? What is Liz going to do after? Will she still be happy even without TGS? Are Jack and Liz going to be separated in the end? :(

However, the best part of the episode was, in my opinion, the Jack/Liz scene in the bed, at Colleen’s house.
I know, I’ve been dreaming of them to get together since the beginning of the show and I confess that the promo had led me to think that something was actually going to happen.
As I should have known better though, nothing happened; anyway, Jack and Liz finally talked about their relationship, in a way that I can’t help to think was Tina’s way to answer and somehow please everyone that has been shipping them for all these years.

They talked about their "chemistry", the fact that nothing ever happened because their friendship is more important and not because any of them has any kind of "problem" (I definitely think that, for Jack, Liz is not ugly, he just sees her as a little sister); it was especially cute to see Liz trying to understand why Jack never actually tried to seduce her, because “he’s kind of a slut”. **

I still think there’s a lot they could have talked about and I’m not completely satisfied with the answer they came up with either, but I appreciated that they had that chat and I honestly saw that as something “for us” hopeless shippers.

In my dream/post 30 Rock-ending world Liz realizes she wants to spend the rest of her life with Jack and so, after some years of marriage, she just comes back to him; after all Liz and Chriss got married mainly because of her wanting to adopt kids. In the meantime I’ll accept this sort of “acknowledgement” Jack and Liz made in Florida, even if nobody will ever make me think that they are not soulmates.

( hands!!<3 )

* About that, I think Jack won't end up alone: I read that both Julianne Moore and Salma Hayek will be back for the series finale, so that has to mean something. To be honest I would prefer Jack to end up with Nancy (Julianne Moore), because I liked them as a couple, I thought they were cute (Liz excluded, of course).

So if that is the case,I would be kinda happy. But no Salma Hayek please!Never liked her nor her character.

** I thought the entire dialogue was super cute, but there was this part which I really loved. Since I don't know how to make gifs I will just post here the link to a tumblr I found on the Internet. (I hope that's ok with the author, I wouldn't know how else to quote him/her).

Liz: "Did nothing ever happen between us because I'm not fun?"
Jack: "Good God Lemon. Obviously our relationship, however you define it ... mentor/mentee.."
Liz: "Sister-ployee/work oracle"
Jack: "..is more interesting than some dating scenario. And obviously to ruin what we have with a tawdry yet expert sexual encounter would have been a mistake".

UPDATE!
Here is the entire scene, I found it on YouTube..enjoy!

Well thank Tina, at least  you tried to satisfy us too :)

- 3 guys, and that is going to be SAD.

Thank you for listening and stay tuned!

JANE BY DESIGN!

Hi everyone!
Today I'd like to talk about a TV show I recently watched and that has been, unfortunately, cancelled after just one season.
The show I'm referring to is Jane By Design:it was created by April Blair and it premiered on ABC Family on January 3, 2012.

The show resembles for some aspects to both "The Devil wears Prada" and "Ugly Betty", however it has a spirit of its own.
It tells the story of a teenage girl, Jane Quinby  (Erica Dasher), who is mistankenly hired as the assistant of a fashion designer, Gray Chandler Murray (Andie Mac Dowell) and begins working in high fashion. She then has to go on with her school life but, at the same time, she has to work and pretend to be an adult in order to keep her dream job.
Jane lives with her brother Ben (David Clayton Rogers) and has a best friend named Billy (Nick Roux). At work she has to do her best to please Gray, while she also has to fight with India (India de Beaufort) and, sometimes, with Jeremy (Rowley Dennis).

The show was cancelled after only one season of 18 episodes, due to low ratings. Although I can understand why ABC decided to get rid of the show,I find hard to understand why people didn't like it. I know it's quite a predictable show, but it's funny and you immediately start to care about the characters. In particular the relationship between Jane and Billy could have developed and be explored more deeply if the show had had time to grow. Unfortunately we'll never know what was going to happen (however, there is a little surprise at the end of this post for those of you who watched the show and know how it ended).

Even though the show is already finished I think everyone should give it a chance, and I'm sure you won't regret it.
Sure,if you only like TV shows where everything is unpredictable and you want a "coup de théatre" every second, well, this is not the show for you.
But if you like nice characters, funny stories and, yes, the world of fashion, you're going to love Jane by Design.

Here are some pictures of the cast:

and a lovely interview to the two protagonists:

And here is the opening theme, which I think it's great!

(wow listening to this again makes me a little sad)

So what do you think?
Have you watched Jane By Design?Did you like it??
Let me know!!

Thank you for listening and stay tuned!

30 ROCK: SOME NEWS ABOUT LIZ!

Hello!!!!

Have you seen the last episode of 30 Rock??

SPOILER ALERT!!!

So,Liz finally got married with Criss..well,that surprised me!

I have never fully understood Liz's personality: on the one hand I always thought she was a strong woman,a feminist, a bit nerdy maybe but also very intelligent and sarcastic; after all, she is responsible of that crazy crew at TGS,so basically she has to direct everything by herself. So according to this description, she always seemed the kind of woman who was never going to marry.

However, on the other hand, she also seemed to care about love and happiness:she had several boyfriends, some of them very cute (Floyd and Carol), other not (Dennis!).
Criss is nice,he seems to understand her and on some levels he is the perfect husband for Liz,but I'm not completely sure I like the fact that they got married (I'm not even sure I like him very much, in the long "distance" I mean).

I think I always had difficulties in understanding her because of her relationship with Jack.
It was clear from the beginning that Jack was just going to be her mentor, but even so they became great friends, and sometimes they were each one the only help and support for the other. I guess that this kind of "platonic love" always misled me because, being a TV series lover as I am, I have probably always thought that they were going to end up together. And even if they never made us think anything different, I think everyone at a certain point had believed that.

That is why I don't know what to think about this wedding.
Did it definitely remove any hope to see Liz and Jack together?Well yes, but deep down I knew that this was not going to happen (Tina Fey herself always denied that, and even on a "chemistry" level there was never anything "substantial").
Having said that,I was not excited when the wedding happened.

And that makes me a bit angry, because I care about Liz and I love 30 Rock; I'm sad that this is the last season, and I would love it go on for ever..
So what is wrong? Is it me or did you think the same??

I think I might watch it again, just to verify if I miss something (I was a bit sleepy when I watched it).

Anyway, here is a funny video from last season: I think this scene was added for all the "hopeless" people like me who were (and still are) waiting for "Liz&Jack" :)

LOVE THEM BOTH!! <3

Thank you for listening!

H.

UPDATE:I was reading around on the Internet and I found that I'm not the only one a bit sad because this ship seems to be over..On Tumblr I read a suggestion about the end of the episode, when Liz and Jack kiss in front of funeral flowers:is it the writers signifying the end of it all?Or does it mean that Jack is losing the one he loves?I don't know but I'm sad :(

ONCE UPON A TIME: THOUGHTS ON EPISODE 2X05

Hi everyone, here is a “nocturnal” post.

I’ve just seen episode 2x05 of Once Upon a Time and I needed to write about it. First of all, there are going to be spoilers in this post so …

SPOILER ALERT!!

The episode was called “The Doctor” and it was mainly about Regina, who is definitely my favorite character of OUAT; the doctor of the title was revealed to be Dr. Frankenstein, with a final twist that (although expected) made us realize that we are no longer “confined” to the world of fairytales, but that there are many other possible worlds where new characters could come from.

Frankenstein was present both in the past world than in Storybrooke, and he was there to help Regina. As we know from Season 1, the Queen turned into Evil because she lost her true love, Daniel, who was killed by her mother. She could never really accept the death of his fiancée, and that’s why she seeks the help of Victor to make him live again. If in the fairytales world Dr. Frankenstein doesn’t seem (because we’ll find out it’s not like that) to be able to do that, in Storybrooke his powers make Daniel come back from the dead.

What isn’t good about it is that Daniel is actually a “monster” (with a clear reference to the future “creature” made by Victor) and goes around hurting people. He doesn’t even seem to recognize Regina and, apart from a few seconds of conscience where he tells her to “let him leave”, he’s a completely different man from the one the Queen loved. It is then her who has to let him go, and she finally uses her magic to kill him a second time and “make his pain stops”.

I really liked this episode, and the reasons are many. As I said, Regina is my favorite character and since I saw episode 1x18 (“The Stable Boy”) I had been dying to know whether the authors were going to bring Daniel back or not. As a “Regina-lover” I was hoping she could have a happy ending and be reunited with her true love once again, so I was very disappointed when I realized that was not the case in this episode, and that what I dreamed of was never going to happen.

However, I thought this episode was very good because it made me think about how hard it is to let a person go, when this person no longer is physically with us. The strength with which Regina held on to Daniel (symbolized by her “freezing his body”) exemplified how hard we try to keep the people we love with us, especially when they are dead. I think this could be the case even of a post break-up, or when you fight with someone, but for me this episode was all about letting our beloved ones go once they die. I personally still struggle with this, I can’t bear the idea of not seeing the people I lost anymore: I still think (irrationally) that they will come back someday, sometimes, so I can totally understand the pain Regina felt when she had Daniel in front of her and she had to let him go.

This was mentioned even by Rumple when he was teaching magic to Regina and he told her she was never going to learn because she was too attached to her past, and that it was her past that was holding her back. Of course I know that it was meant to make her become “evil”, but I felt the general idea was closer to what I think. In my opinion we are so attached to our past that it makes impossible for us to go on, to move on: I sometimes feel I can’t get rid of previous feelings and that those stop me, they don’t completely allow me to live my life. On the contrary I also think some of these feelings are necessary to be who we are, and without the experiences we had we wouldn’t be the same.

I like OUAT, and even though sometimes you may think it’s “crazy” or too confused, then it pays with interesting moments that allow you to think and make realizations. I loved this episode for what it made me realize and reflect upon, however it also made me very sad about Regina’s story. I believe in happy endings, I have a need for happy endings and realizing that this was not going to happen for her hurt me, because it felt too close to real life (and to what usually happens to people).

Here is a beautiful and very sad video I found about Regina and Daniel (and, as if it wasn't clear already, I think Lana Parrilla is an amazing and very talented actress!!)

I still hope there will be love and happiness in Regina’s life though!!

What do you think? Do you agree with me or do you I think I over thought this? J

Have a goodnight!

ALTERNATIVE REALITY: RANDOM THOUGHTS

Hello!!

Today I would like to introduce you to a new section of my blog, which I decided to call "Alternative Reality: Random Thoughts".
Basically I will put under this title everything that I write which is related to what I think of the "alternative reality", in a word the fictitious world I created for myself :)
This world is that place where I think I am every time I watch a TV show I like and I totally feel what the characters are feeling, or when I'm watching a movie, reading a book and I forget about my real life and my real self.
I can be whoever I want to be, wherever I want to be and with whom I want..nice right?

Of course this whole idea of an alternative reality also has negative aspects (well maybe just one): when you stop watching TV, finish a movie or a book, you realize that your life SUCKS :(

For example, how about the great love stories they have on TV? It can be stupid to say, but I completely share the characters's feeling, I can feel their emotions, their love..and I'm happy for them!
When a couple finally gets together it's all happiness and joy, and when a couple breaks up I feel sad..then I can't stop watching because I want to know what's going to happen!
Should I be concerned? I mean, I obviously don't have that happiness in my real life, but I feel fine in "experiencing" theirs..I don't know whether this means my life isn't good enough, or just that I can be really involved in a TV show..

What do you think? Is it weird?
Sometimes I feel people don't really understand why I care so much about TV series, they think I should try to make my life better if I really envy that of fictional characters..but isn't it just great to forget about everything and feel fine for one hour or more?

Weren't you incredibly happy when Luke and Lorelai finally kissed? Didn't you cry when Rachel got off the plane? Aren't you waiting for Nick and Jess to get together? How about Matthew and Mary? Wouldn't you like to be Leslie just to be with Ben?

I think I'm just an hopeless romantic <3

Waiting for your thoughts about this "alternative reality" :)
Thank you for listening and stay tuned!
