I'M BACK!

Hello guys!!

I know, I disappeared..I’m very sorry! I went on a short trip with some friends but, moreover, I still hadn’t recovered from the ending of 30 Rock :) Can you believe that wonderful show is over? I can’t.
But ehi, we’ve got to move on..so today I’m going to collect some songs I’ve been listening to in these days, hopefully they will accompany you in your days too!

First of all, “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver: I heard it sung by the incredible voice of Birdy (can you believe she is only 16??), so I decided to listen to the original and I definitely like it better!
But I have to admit I fell in love with Birdy’s voice too and I’m sure she is going to be a great singer, so I give her credit for that.

Then, I recently discovered Marina and the Diamonds and I absolutely adore her now! She’s got a very special voice, and I love the sound of her songs too..for the moment my favourite is “Teen Idle” . It’s a great song, with a powerful meaning and I think a lot of people can relate to it. Here is a special live version of it sung by Marina in London..enjoy!
After the video, some images of Marina!

Finally, “Dancing on my Own” , by Robyn: I heard this on the TV series Girls and I loved it!!
Here is the original version, and after that the beautiful scene where Hannah and Marnie dance on this song.

What do you think of these songs? Do you like them too?

Thank you for listening (literally) and stay tuned!!

SMASH!

Hi everyone!! How was your Christmas?

Here is my present for you: as I previously told you, I started watching Smash and I have already finished it!!I loved it!!

I started watching it because I read it was about Broadway and given the fact that I love musical theatre I thought I could like it..and I was right!!

Smash is the story of a company creating a musical about Marilyn Monroe: everything starts with Tom (Christian Borle) and Julia (Debra Messing), respectively a composer and a songwriter, having an idea for this new musical.
They quickly convince the director Derek (Jack Davenport) and the producer Eileen (Angelica Huston) to get on board and they start casting people for the parts.
It is clear from the beginning that the choice will be between Ivy (Megan Hilty) and Karen (Katharine McPhee).

However, there's so much more than that in Smash.
First of all we can see how a musical is created, starting from the very beginning, understanding how everything works and how hard the world of theatre can be.
Every character is well portrayed and we can't help but liking them all, even those who are not protagonist (Dev, Michael, Nick, Frank, Leo and all the others).
Plus, the show does have some great guest stars, like Uma Thurman!

Personally I loved the fact that they created original songs for the show: apart from some known songs that sometimes we listen to, everything that is part of "Bombshell" (that's the title of the musical) is original.
Every song is just amazing!
My favourites are "Let Me Be Your Star" and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", here are the videos.

Let Me Be Your Star

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

The two leading ladies are both amazing, Megan Hilty is perfect in her portrayal of Marilyn and Katharine McPhee has an amazing voice! Her rendition of "Shake it out" was just great!
I also loved Ivy&Karen's duet on "Cheers (drink to that)"

Cheers (drink to that)

Smash doesn't stop surprising you, for example when they had a great Bolliwood moment!!

Here are some pictures from the show:

                                                Karen

Ivy

                                         Tom and Julia

                                                                          Derek

                                                                       Eileen

Michael (Ok, I just love him!!)

                                                          Dev (Karen's boyfriend)

                                                     Karen and Ivy as Marilyn

                                                                         The Cast

If you love musical theatre as I do I'm sure you'll love this show!
Now we just have to wait until season 2 comes out..I can't wait!

Also,I would love "Bombshell" to become a real musical and to be staged on Broadway!

So, do you like Smash? Are you team Ivy or team Karen?
I honestly can't say:I guess I was team Karen at first, but then something changed in me..I might be team Ivy :)

Thank you for listening and staty tuned!

MUMFORD AND SONS

Hello!!!!

Today I was listening to Mumford and Sons' new album, Babel; I love it, I like all the songs, for example "I will wait", "Not with Haste", "Babel", "Hopeless Wanderer"... I couldn't possibly choose one as my favourite.
However my "problem" with Mumford and Sons is that their music is so beautiful that I sometimes forget to listen to the lyrics! And that's unfair, because they are incredible too!

So today,I was completely amazed by the beauty and the power of "Below My Feet":its lyrics made me cry!
Have you listened to it?
It's so complex and full of meanings..I went on listening to it so many times that I can now sing it with him :)
I don't know why it gets me so much, but I really feel it's expressing many things I've got in me..

So here is the song:

And here are the lyrics (I've underlined the sentences I like the most):

"You were cold as the blood through your bones
And the light which led us from our chosen homes
Well I was lost
And now I sleep,
Sleep the hours that I can't weep
When all I knew was steeped in blackened hopes
Well I was lost

Keep the earth below my feet
From my sweat, my blood runs weak

Let me learn from where I have been
Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn

Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn

And I was still but I was under your spell
When I was told by Jesus all was well
So all must be well
Just give me time
Well you know your desires and mine
So wrap my flesh in ivy and in twine
For I must be well

Keep the earth below my feet

From my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Well keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn

Keep the earth below my feet
From my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn"

Well, isn't it amazingly beautiful?I know,I've used the words "amazing" and "beautiful" far too many times :)

I'd like to hear what you think!
Thank you for listening!

SOME THOUGHTS ON GLEE!

Hello!!!
How's everyone? I had a funny day today, and it made me think of how simple things can make us laugh and be happy..I mean,we don't really need "special things", don't we? I know it probably isn't anything new,but it's always nice to share good advices :)

Speaking about good advices, has anyone thought about a good show I could start? At the moment I'm thinking to finish Sherlock, which I left some months ago due to many reasons..what do you say?

By the way, what do you guys think of Glee?Have you been watching season 4 so far?
I used to like it very much, I thought season 1 and 2 were very good, but I was a bit disappointed by season 3.
I know many people think this season is not very good, but I don't really think that:I mean,it's not what we were used to. And that I guess is the problem:we're watching a new show.

New characters, new stories, old characters with "new" personalities,a sense of deja-vu..for example the love triangle Marley,Jake,Ryder:doesn't it scream Rachel,Finn,Quinn?
Or the difficulties Unique is facing at school aren't similar to Kurt's?
Moreover, I think the changes that Rachel and Kurt are going through are making their characters too different from what they used to be..it's always good for a character to grow up,but not too fast (I think).
Finally,I don't really like the use the authors are making of the "old": why aren't they giving more space to Brittany,Tina or Sam?I know there are more interesting characters probably, but then what's the point of keeping them?

Having said that,I like Glee/4 enough to keep watching it,especially because whenever there's a love triangle I'm in :)

Here are some Glee cast songs I really liked over the years (there's also one from season 4)..I hope you enjoy!!

Rumour has it/ Someone like you
performed by the Troubletones:
two amazing songs for amazing voices (especially Santana's!).

Pretending performed by Rachel and Finn: the perfect song for every lover :) (also, I was a fan of Finchel from the beginning,so I was very happy when this happened).

My life would suck without you performed by the entire cast: I loved season 1 ending!!!It was simply PERFECT <3.

Shake it out performed by Santana, Mercedes and Tina: I just love this song,so I couldn't be happier when I heard it on Glee (and I liked why they used it too).

Keep holding on performed by the entire cast: a super sweet moment for Quinn in season 1!

Loser like me performed by the entire cast: a beautiful new song!!!I sooo relate to the lyrics by the way :P

Crazy/U drive me crazy performed by Marley and Jake:I looved this moment between these two!!And the song was pretty good too!

OK, I just realised that I like so many songs that the risk is to forget too many..so I'm just going to stop now and maybe make a new post another time!!

I'm going to leave you with my all time favourite:

Don't stop believing performed by Rachel, Finn, Kurt, Mercedes and Tina: a goosebump moment!!
This exemplifies what I said before: how can you not miss the old Glee?

What do you think?Do you agree with me?Do you like Glee at all?
I'd love to hear what you have to say!!!

Thank you for listening and stay tuned!!

THE NAME IS BOND, JAMES BOND!

Hello everyone!!!

Today I'm going to write a post about music and cinema.

I was watching a 007 movie yesterday night, "Casino Royale" and I remembered that in less than 2 weeks the new one, "Skyfall" , will be released.
I'm not a huge fan of 007 movies, I've seen some of them but I wouldn't say I'm an expert. However, I do love the soundtracks of these movies, in particular the theme songs.
So I've decided to make a list of those songs I like the most, hoping that you'll suggest me those that I forgot.

Ok then, let's start!!!
I'm sure that if you think of 007, this is the first song that pops into your mind:

"Goldfinger" , performed by Shirley Bassey for the 1964 movie.
She performed also "Diamonds are forever" and "Moonraker", for the 1971 and 1979 movies.

One of my favourite is "You only live twice" , performed by Nancy Sinatra for the 1967 movie. I find it very classy!

Another interesting song is "Live and let die" , performed by Paul McCartney &Wings for the 1973 movie. I think it has a very powerful music that stays in your mind for a long time!

"Nobody does it better" , performed by Carly Simon for the 1977 movie, "The Spy who Loved me". An amazingly sweet song and a great artist. Love it!

Among the other Bond songs there are "Die another day" (Madonna, 2002), "A view to a kill" (Duran Duran, 1985), "Golden Eye" (Tina Turner, 1995), "For your eyes only" (Sheena Easton, 1981).

Recently the new 007 song, "Skyfall" has been released. It's performed by Adele and it will be the opening theme for the new movie, "Skyfall".
I like this song and I love Adele's voice,I think it's a perfect mix!

Finally, I think everyone agrees that THE James Bond theme can't be anything else but this:

So what do you think?Which one of these songs you like the most?Do you like James Bond movies at all?
I'm curious to know what you think!!

Thank you for listening and stay tuned!
